GAS at Club Transmediale 09 (Berlin)

Wolfgang Voigt will be presenting his project GAS at the Club Transmediale Festival on january 22th of 2009. Voigt with the GAS project made explorations over electronic ambient / techno music, co-founder of the Kompakt Label, being one of the most influential persons on the german scene, working since the 80s. This year Kompakt re-released four great GAS albums (Zauberberg, Königsforst, Oktember and Pop) into a CD-box. The Club Transmediale opening concert at the Rosa Luxemburg Platz will be a Voigt strange audio-visual appearence with the video artist Petra Hollenbach, because he was focused in the Kompakt label management.

My first contact with the Ben Frost work, was in live performance at Theater aan het Spui (Deen Haag) on this year. The room was in plenty silence when the man with the shaved head started his solo live performance, using a guitar, controllers and a laptop.

Frost was born in Australia, but nowaday recide on Reykjavík, Iceland, where he work as band producer too. He edited his works on labels like Room 40 and Bedroom Community, and he make a remix for Bjork too. His music is characterized by the guitar explorations, tagged in categories like ambient noise and post rock too. Maybe listening Ben Frost releases you can feel a polarity between relax climate and dark catharsis.
